Some discs may be damaged beyond repair. While we cannot predict the outcome of each disc without seeing it, the guide below will help you determine if you disc may be damaged beyond restoration.

| Take the disc out and hold it up to a light indoors. View the disc from the bottom. See any light shining through? Even a pinhole can cause a skip. | Because a digital disc such as a DVD, CD, or Video Game is read the same way. A light beam is passed through the disc where it passes over microscopic impressions. Then the light beam is bounced off the reflective coating at the top of the disc and into a "reader." If you see light, then the reflective coating has been removed and the light beam will not bounce into the reader. If you check a disc and see light shining through, that disc cannot be fully repaired. Most times discs with holes will be improved with polishing, but at least one skip will most likely be present. |
